2023 Cox's Bazar Tourism Fair and Beach Carnival

Cox's Bazar, home to the world's longest sea beach, is currently experiencing an incredible surge in tourism. With a week-long tourism fair and a three-day government holiday coinciding, the district is witnessing a massive influx of visitors from all corners of Bangladesh. In this article, we'll explore the exciting events happening in Cox's Bazar, how tourists are making their way there, and what visitors can expect during this lively celebration. The tourism fair and beach carnival will continue from Wednesday to October 3, 2023

The Beach Carnival Extravaganza

The centerpiece of this celebration is the seven-day beach carnival and tourism fair, held at Laboni Point. Over 200 colorful stalls have been set up, featuring a wide range of products and services offered by hotels, motels, restaurants, tour operators, and other local organizations. The fair's theme, "Environmental Friendly Investment in Tourism," highlights the region's commitment to sustainable tourism.

Flights and Transportation

Tourists are making their way to Cox's Bazar by both road and air. Cox's Bazar Airport has been particularly busy, with a record number of flights arriving. Biman Bangladesh Airlines, among others, has seen an unprecedented number of flights coming in from various parts of the country, including Dhaka and Sylhet. Additionally, 24 flights took off from Cox's Bazar Airport on a single day.

The Experience of Visitors

Visitors, eager to partake in the festivities, have flocked to Cox's Bazar. Some, like three friends from Comilla, learned about the tourism fair and decided to make the trip. However, they found that many hotels did not offer discounts, and they had to pay extra for their rooms. Similar experiences were reported by a couple from Dhaka, who also noted that food prices in hotels remained unchanged.

Hotel Occupancy

Millions of tourists have gathered in Cox's Bazar due to the three-day government holiday and the week-long tourism fair. Almost 90% of hotel and motel rooms are booked, and popular tourist spots are bustling with visitors.

Safety and Security

Tourist police and law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure the safety of visitors. Mobile courts are also operating in the area to prevent harassment of tourists, with legal actions promised in case of any reported incidents.

The beach carnival and tourism fair offer a plethora of activities for visitors. Sand sculptures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina adorn the beach. Events range from circus performances to beach bike rallies, discussions, cultural shows, and even a kite festival. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with performances by local and national artists.
