Shahjahan Khondokar, a well-known newsreader of 90s childhood on Bangladesh Television (BTV). He was seen most of the time in the news at 4:00 pm on Bangladesh Television (BTV)'s full-length Bengali movies. He used to narrate many developmental programs on radio and television. His voice could be heard from afar. The man had been working at BTV for a long time. He has been awarded many times for his outstanding voice in documentary programs and advertisements in his colourful life.
In addition to being a newsreader on radio and TV during his lifetime, he has sung in about 500 documentary and development programs. Besides reading news, he also used to recite Azan prayers. Our generation in the nineties ('90s) is very indebted to this man. He is one of our most familiar faces. He is also associated with the colourful memories of our growing up.
Shahjahan Khondokar Saju died of a heart attack at the ICU of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital on Thursday (March 15, 2015) morning. He was 51 years old. He is survived by 1 son, 1 daughter and a wife and numerous appreciative friends. He did his Masters in Marketing from Dhaka University. He died of a heart attack on March 15, 2015. Today we pay our respects on his death anniversary. May Allah grant him Jannatul Ferdous.
He was the second of 3 brothers and 1 sister. Elder brother Khandaker Abdul Hannan is living permanently in Canada. Younger brother Khandaker Abdul Mannan Babu is the editor and publisher of the weekly Arthadhara and fortnightly Janata Andolan. He was the Vice President of the Bangladesh Cultural Council. His wife Shamima Parveen Shimu is a former director of the National Museum and a regular vocalist on Bangladesh Betar-TV.
